What is a Salary Slip?

A salary slip is a monthly document that an employer gives an employee, showing a full breakdown of earnings and deductions for that pay period. It acts as official proof of income and is used for loan applications, tax filing, and rent receipts.

Basic Salary
The fixed core pay before any allowances, usually 40–50% of CTC.
HRA
House Rent Allowance, given to help cover rental expenses.
Special Allowance
The flexible remainder of pay after fixed components are set.
Provident Fund
A retirement savings deduction, usually 12% of basic salary.
Professional Tax
A small state-levied tax, typically ₹200 or less per month.
